This year marks the 25th anniversary of
the Relay for Life, one of the American Cancer Society's key
philanthropy opportunities. Mayor Buddy Dyer is proud to serve as the
honorary chair for the College Park Relay for Life and join community
members, schools, businesses and residents of College Park as they come
together in celebration of this remarkable event.
The College Park event will be held at
St. Charles Borromeo School on April 24, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. Teams of
friends, families, students, co-workers and community members will
pledge to walk the Relay for Life track throughout the 18-hour
fundraiser. To kick-off the event, a group of cancer survivors will
make the first lap around the track.
This is a time for the College Park
community to honor, remember and celebrate those who have suffered or
are suffering from the affects of cancer. Many activities are planned
throughout the event to raise money and to keep the energy level high
for the entire night. Fundraising efforts are currently underway to
meet this year's goal of $46,000. All monies go directly to the
American Cancer Society.
Many teams have already signed up and
begun fundraising but there is still time left to gather your team and
take a stand against cancer. For more information or to make online
donations to this worthy cause, please visit relayforlife.org/collegeparkfl.
